6 unusual ways to make homemade hot chocolate

Published on 10 / 09 / 2021

The preparation of hot chocolate is a must in the winter and autumn seasons.

It has been done since the dawn of time, yet it is always a pleasure to renew your recipes.

You will sometimes be surprised to find that you already have everything you need in your pantry thanks to these 6 proposals that are based on the same recipe:

Incorporate the hot milk chocolate of your choice (cow, almond, soy, oats) .

1. The leftovers

It's time to dig into the pantry and bring out those rabbit ears or that abandoned chocolate bar. Over time, its appearance may have changed. Be reassured, it is quite normal for chocolate to bleach or lose its shine. As soon as it is incorporated into your cup of hot milk it will be forgotten. Do not hesitate to use different flavors: WHITE - Matcha, MILK - Salt Caramel, Black - Fir. The result will be even tastier.

Favorite container: the thermos cup, to bring on a hike.

2. Chocolate bomb

Bomb is the latest hot chocolate trend. And for instance, it is spectacular. Each ball contains a generous amount of cocoa powder and mini marshmallows. Children will love to watch the transformation appear before their eyes. And you'll be happy to offer them a festive snack made from quality ingredients.

Favorite container: the bowl that warms hands and heart.

3. The melt-me chocolate lollipop

No need to take out the whisk to make this ready-to-use hot chocolate. All you have to do is stirring the wooden stick in your cup of hot milk and watch the magic happens.

Preferred container: The favorite cup that we keep despite the wear and tear of time.

4. The powder

Hot chocolat powder mixes are based on a careful balance of cocoa mass and cane sugar sometimes complemented with spices. At Chocolat boréal, we especially enjoy the CHAI blend made of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, star anise and ginger. It is inspired by the ancient Mayan traditions that marked the origin of chocolate consumption thousands of years ago.

Favorite container: The glass mug enhanced with a touch of frothed milk or whipped cream on top.

5. Cocoa

If you like baking once in a while, you always have a pouch at hand. Cocoa powder is used for tiramisus, cappuccinos, birthday cake, etc. You pay a lot of care preparing them and the result is not always perfect. The key? A quality cocoa, like this powder that our chocolatiers use to roll the most decadent truffles in the universe. And while these brownies are cooking, why don't you prepare an extra-concentrated bitter hot chocolate so you don't forget them in the oven...

Favorite container: The espresso cup for an invigorating effect.

6. The drops

The best friend of the amateur pastry chef. Chocolate chips come in different diameters, origins and cocoa %. You already use them for muffins, cookies, cake frosting. Well, did you know that you can make your hot chocolates by melting them in fothered milk?

Favorite container: the pot to share with friends.
